Bring
the hit Comedy Show DOWN
AT THE LEGION To
your Legion Branch!
As a proud member of Highgate Branch 335 I have been providing my professional theatrical productions to my Legion for the past four years. These shows originated at the Acorn Theatre in Wallaceburg Ontario where I have been Artistic Manager since 2001. Our shows have helped raise thousands of dollars for our Legion Branch as well as money for the Military Families Fund. We’ve
entertained the membership in Highgate and brought in a wider audience of people Now we’re looking to do the same at Legion Branches all across Ontario
and are asking that you consider bringing our comedy show to your membership. DOWN AT THE LEGION has been a runaway success in every Theatre and Legion Hall in which it has appeared. A comedy for all audiences, it is a cost effective alternative to Yuk Yuk’s and other forms of entertainment for your members. DOWN AT THE LEGION can be performed in any hall regardless of whether your Legion has a stage or not. The purpose of our show is to make everyone in the audience feel proud of their Country, proud of their Soldiers and proud their local Legion. Above all the show is a celebratory tribute to the Legion volunteers, employees and members.
For 2012 we are also offering the new rural comedy THE FUNNY FARMERS to those Legions that have already seen DOWN AT THE LEGION..
The Shows DOWN AT THE LEGION by Kevin Riordan
All across this country a small town has truly come of age if it has three things: a Hockey Arena, a Tim Horton's and of course a Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion. The story
starts when Dan Boyle begins digging around the roots of his family tree. His
search leads him to the Hillgate Legion where his Grandparents are legendary for
their community spirit and patriotism. With the help of Gabby the Bar Steward,
Dan launches a campaign to bring people
back into their local Legion which is suffering from the smoking ban and a
leaky roof. This show is a fun loving lark about
fish fry suppers, meat draws, Euchre tournaments and all the volunteers who make
your Legion what it is. This is a show about having pride in Canada’s wartime
heritage as well as a salute to small town life in Ontario. Our fun homespun
sense of humour and professional performances allow everyone in your membership
to sit back and enjoy lots and lots of laughs. The show consists of two acts each running 50 minutes in length. There is a 20 minute intermission between the acts. To see selected highlights of DOWN AT THE LEGION click here A DVD of a full DOWN AT THE LEGION performance is available upon request.
THE FUNNY FARMERS by Kevin Riordan
Gary Gosnell's combination of bad luck and bad choices lead to the loss of his family’s Century Farm. City slicker Jerry Swartz buys the property and moves in with big plans for a mixed organic co-operative. Jerry has never farmed before and makes a complete fool of himself in front of the locals. Gary is forced to step in to save Jerry from himself and bankruptcy. Over more than a few beers at their local Legion the two men become unlikely friends and business partners when they decide to run a funny farm together. The Oldford Funny Farm For The Whole Family is born and becomes a major tourist attraction. All goes hilariously well until the city of Toronto decides to dump its
garbage right next door forcing the Funny Farmers to fight back. The
two men load their tractors up and head for Toronto determined to explain to
anyone and everyone that Farmers Feed Cities! The show consists of two acts each running 50 minutes in length. There is a 20 minute intermission between the acts. To see selected highlights of THE FUNNY FARMERS click here. A DVD of a full Funny Farmers performance is available upon request.
